Horizontal screen consists of a specialised mesh attached to aluminum frame designed to keep leaves, bugs and birds from entering a building (house or a room), whilst it allows shading and proper ventilation of the place.
The mesh of the Horizontal screen uses fiberglass: Α fiber-reinforced plastic with glass fiber, a very flexible material that is being applied and used in all modern constructions; regardless of the functionality of the product. With that method, the Horizontal screen is constructed using an aluminum made frame in which the mesh of the screen is applied. The frame of the screen is installed either into the window itself or directly into the wall.
Horizontal screen has a very similar functionality and philosophy with the vertical screen; without –however– having being used that often in older buildings and constructions. Horizontal screen consists of a reinforced aluminum shaft in which the fiberglass mesh folds. This shaft is placed in a vertical manner of the floor itself and can be found in the right or left side of the window. The shaft itself along with the mesh are covered by an aluminum shell. The mesh folds and unfolds thanks to the bottom and upper rails that come usually in two different sizes: Τhe bottom one to be the smaller and the upper one to be the bigger. This system is also accompanied by a special made brush in order the mesh to be remained untouched by the air permeability that the product might receive to some extent.
Finally, from the exact opposite side that the shaft is located in which the mesh folds we find an aluminum profile in which the hook is placed. The ‘adjustable speed controller’ (aka break system) of the spring allows you to adjust the screening (fiberglass mesh material) rolling up the speed and promising a smooth operation. Horizontal screens are usually installed in opening system windows and quite rarely in the sliding ones.
A significant disadvantage is that this particular construction does not allow someone to fold and unfold the screen gradually (controlled usability), or even to keep the screen in any specific point that might desire. Horizontal screen delivers same solidity levels as the Vertical one and it can be regarded as an affordable solution considering the convenience that offers.
